We are very excited to have recently created a new business providing student development programmes to schools and colleges.
Learning to Earning provides a unique and powerful programme called 'The Personal Skills Journey'. It helps to prepare students in their final school years in the transition from school to university or the world of work.
Subject areas include leadership, team working skills, personal brand, equality and diversity. The workshops span 2 days are delivered in schools and include a range of methods such as theory inputs, project work, practical exercises, discussion exercises, review and reflection.
The workshops are generating lots of interest within schools. We are also in discussion with a number of corporate partners regarding sponsorship and other means of support for the programmes.

We are currently mid way through a contract to assist the London Fire Brigade in creating a new 5 day Leadership Development Training programme aimed at Crew Managers.
Our role is to provide feedback, guidance and support to their facilitator team in designing and delivering the best programme possible. This is done through regular meetings, face to face feedback and via written reports.
It's an exciting and thoroughly rewarding process and one which enables us to offer our expertise and experience in providing leadership development training to a wide range of clients.

We were delighted recently to be asked to design and deliver two separate career development coaching workshops on behalf of the London Fire Brigade.
The workshops were provided for delegates who had recently gone through a promotional assessment centre. They offered individuals opportunities to:
Reflect on their strengths and development needs
Identify ways to maximise their learning and development
Prepare a career development plan and receive key feedback
Those who attended all benefitted enormously and we look forward to helping the Brigade with similar initiatives in the future.

We have recently worked with two separate large departments from AWE on one of our largest scale events - Barn Raising! The objective for the group is to raise a large scale 'Amish' style barn in a single day. In order for groups to be successful they must combine elements of complex project management, team working, negotiation and influencing skills, leadership and cross team working.
Every participant has a full and active role to play from project managers to roofers to cladders to journalists. It is always fascinating to observe the interdependancy of these roles and the project slowly come together. The transfer of learning back to the workplace always makes for a very powerful experience for all who take part.

We recently took a large group of marketers and product developers from one our large financial services clients to the Solent for a yachting regatta. Sailing from the beautiful Bucklers Hard at the head of the Beaulieu River there was a morning spent learning the fundamentals of crewing a 40 foot yacht, followed by lunch at Cowes and a Solent regatta in the afternoon.
We then travelled to the very comfortable Rhinefield House Hotel in the New Forest for a prizegiving, dinner and drinks. The second day followed with some team based exercises and discussions around the future working of this expanding department. All who attended the event agreed that it had a real wow factor and was hugely successful in bringing the department together. We look forward to the next event for this, one of our longest standing clients

November saw us host a team development training programme on behalf of one of our financial services clients in Lille. A short Eurostar journey took the 13 members of the Business Development Team across the water where they enjoyed an excellent stay at one of the city's nicest hotels.
Discussions centred around the new shape of this recently expanded team together with links to future goals, roles, systems and relationships. The event culminated in a creative video project using the stunning backdrop of Old Lille. Team members commented on how the programme had 'exceeded their expectations'.
We look forward to taking more of clients to European destinations which can provide excellent value for money.

We recently worked with a high profile funds group from one of our financial services clients. New team members and considerable changes to their internal systems and communication together with a changing regulatory framework made them feel that they should spend valuable time away from their offices to explore the issues and challenges they face.
We spent a day and a half at the Petersham Hotel in west London and facilitated a number discussions and team based activities closely matched to the event objectives. Use of Myers Briggs Type Indicator profiling also helped them to explore relationships, team and individual styles.
They are currently working on a robust and highly detailed action plan resulting from the event which we wish them every success with.

May saw the completion of two further Leadership Development programmes on behalf of potential Crew Managers from the London Fire Brigade.
This 4 day residential course is designed to help firefighters aspiring to the first level of management within the service apply leadership skills in practice through a variety of complex and challenging experiential exercises.
We use the conference facilities at Gilwell Park in north-east London. As well as being the National Scout Training Headquarters it provides excellent facilities for a range of both indoor and outdoor styles of working.
Working closely with trainers from the Leadership and Management Development Team who facilitate the learning for the candidates attending we ensure that the courses are relevant and link closely to classroom based inputs on leadership theory and interpersonal skills.
We look forward to delivering 4 further courses later in the year.

We have now succesfully delivered our training for trainers course to two Fire Brigade training departments. Teams from both the London and Cambridgeshire Brigades have taken part in the 'From Trainer to Facilitator' workshops helping them in their transition to a more inclusive and learner focussed style of delivery.
Facilitation skills, styles and methods of reviewing learning as well as a process of peer review were all explored in some detail.
All those taking part have found the experience very useful and thought provoking and we look forward to talking to other training departments about the workshop and the benefits it might provide.

We recently designed and delivered a team building event on behalf of the Marketing Team of one of our financial services clients. The location was a hotel in the heart of the New Forest. The programme included the use of Belbin Team Role theory, review and discussion around roles and responsibilities within the team together with a structured action planning process. The main event was a 'Team Safari' project involving mountain bike navigation through the forest and a series of complex physical and cerebral tasks to complete en route.
Great weather and a great team atmosphere made for a thoroughly enjoyable event. We look forward to the follow up later in the year.

Following the success of our trainers workshop for the London Fire Brigade in January we are delighted to be designing and delivering a follow up event in April.
With a working theme of 'From Trainer to Facilitator' the initial event explored faciltator tools and techniques for trainers in their transition to new styles of course design and delivery.
The follow up event will continue the original theme as well as developing a performance benchmarking system for the department's staff and a process of peer review.
We are delighted also to be working with our friends at Cambridgshire Fire Brigade on a similar programme for their training department in the near future.

We are delighted to once more be involved in the Networking Women in the Fire Service (NWFS)Conference in July. This will be the 5th consecutive conference we have attended.
The NWFS provides a national forum for minority groups within all of the UK fire services. The conference will provide an opportunity for members to meet at the Fire Service College in Gloucestershire to discuss a range of issues and take part in activities as diverse as Real Firefighter training for non-uniformed staff, Tai Chi, Stress Management and Drumming.
As well as opening the event with a conference icebreaker for all 200 delegates we shall also be running workshop sessions on Interactive Leadership.
We look forward to providing a full report as part of the July newsletter.

Our 'Leadership Journey' initiative in conjunction with our associate partners delivered on behalf of the Atomic Weapons Establishment continues to roll out. Soon to enter its 3rd year we hope to have put between 250 and 300 managers through the 3 module 7 day programme by the end of its run.
The programme has proved such a success with its recipients and our client that we now plan to undertake a full commercial roll out of a modified version to other interested clients in the near future.
There are 3 aspects to the programme - Leadership of Self, Leadership of Others and Leadership of Team and Culture. The programme style combines a practical and experiential approach with some classroom based teaching and vocational project work. We are even able to incorporate University Accreditation into the process providing real benefits to the individual learner.
We shall be providing more detailed infomation to all our clients and contacts over the coming months. In the meantime should you wish to be involved in the initial pilot programme then please do get in touch.

We recently designed and delivered an Equality and Diversity workshop event on behalf of the City of London Police Women's Network.
The event combined key inputs and discussion on the beliefs, attitudes and behaviours underpinning diversity issues together with a number of creative and practical exercises during which delegates could observe and feedback to each other in order to consolidate learning.
The day was a huge success with delegates commenting that they were able to take a full and active part in all aspects of the day within a non-threatening and supportive atmosphere.

The Fire Service nationally is currently undergoing an unprecedented period of change and modernisation following the Bain Report and a new act of Parliament.
We have been delighted to work with the senior management group of Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service in helping them through this process by designing and delivering a Change Management Programme. 4 workshop style days were scheduled leading towards a re-induction process for the entire workforce of the organisation in April 2005.
We look forward to continuing our work with their management team throughout 2005. For more information on Change Management programmes please visit our website.

It’s not only newly formed teams or teams experiencing difficulties that need training and development interventions. Well established, settled teams can often benefit enormously from re-focussing and re-energising their efforts through a well facilitated team building event. Like our cars without a periodic check and re-tune problems can go unnoticed leading to bigger problems later on.
The team MOT offers a tried and tested pattern spanning a single day or many days. Please see our web site for details of team development.

We are delighted to welcome The City of London Police and their recently formed Women's Network to our ever growing list of clients.
