Extending student development into schools
27 Aug 06
We are very excited to have recently created a new business providing student development programmes to schools and colleges.

Learning to Earning provides a unique and powerful programme called 'The Personal Skills Journey'. It helps to prepare students in their final school years in the transition from school to university or the world of work.

Subject areas include leadership, team working skills, personal brand, equality and diversity. The workshops span 2 days are delivered in schools and include a range of methods such as theory inputs, project work, practical exercises, discussion exercises, review and reflection.

The workshops are generating lots of interest within schools. We are also in discussion with a number of corporate partners regarding sponsorship and other means of support for the programmes.

For more information please visit the web site at www.learningtoearning.co.uk.

25 Aug 06
New clients for this Autumn are as follows:

A change management workshop for The US Commercial Service - part of the US Embassy.

Team building programmes for financial institutions Euroclear and Friends Provident.

We welcome them into the RDT fold and thoroughly look forward to working with delegates from these organisations.

Creating Better Leadership Development
25 Aug 06
We are currently mid way through a contract to assist the London Fire Brigade in creating a new 5 day Leadership Development Training programme aimed at Crew Managers.

Our role is to provide feedback, guidance and support to their facilitator team in designing and delivering the best programme possible. This is done through regular meetings, face to face feedback and via written reports.

It's an exciting and thoroughly rewarding process and one which enables us to offer our expertise and experience in providing leadership development training to a wide range of clients.

Career Development Coaching
25 Aug 06
We were delighted recently to be asked to design and deliver two separate career development coaching workshops on behalf of the London Fire Brigade.

The workshops were provided for delegates who had recently gone through a promotional assessment centre. They offered individuals opportunities to:

Reflect on their strengths and development needs
Identify ways to maximise their learning and development
Prepare a career development plan and receive key feedback

Those who attended all benefitted enormously and we look forward to helping the Brigade with similar initiatives in the future.

More Barn Raising
25 Aug 06
We have recently worked with two separate large departments from AWE on one of our largest scale events - Barn Raising! The objective for the group is to raise a large scale 'Amish' style barn in a single day. In order for groups to be successful they must combine elements of complex project management, team working, negotiation and influencing skills, leadership and cross team working.

Every participant has a full and active role to play from project managers to roofers to cladders to journalists. It is always fascinating to observe the interdependancy of these roles and the project slowly come together. The transfer of learning back to the workplace always makes for a very powerful experience for all who take part.

Taking to the Water
25 Aug 06
We recently took a large group of marketers and product developers from one our large financial services clients to the Solent for a yachting regatta. Sailing from the beautiful Bucklers Hard at the head of the Beaulieu River there was a morning spent learning the fundamentals of crewing a 40 foot yacht, followed by lunch at Cowes and a Solent regatta in the afternoon.

We then travelled to the very comfortable Rhinefield House Hotel in the New Forest for a prizegiving, dinner and drinks. The second day followed with some team based exercises and discussions around the future working of this expanding department. All who attended the event agreed that it had a real wow factor and was hugely successful in bringing the department together. We look forward to the next event for this, one of our longest standing clients

Team Development in la Belle France
14 Dec 05
November saw us host a team development training programme on behalf of one of our financial services clients in Lille. A short Eurostar journey took the 13 members of the Business Development Team across the water where they enjoyed an excellent stay at one of the city's nicest hotels.

Discussions centred around the new shape of this recently expanded team together with links to future goals, roles, systems and relationships. The event culminated in a creative video project using the stunning backdrop of Old Lille. Team members commented on how the programme had 'exceeded their expectations'.

We look forward to taking more of clients to European destinations which can provide excellent value for money.

In Search of High Performance
13 Dec 05
We recently worked with a high profile funds group from one of our financial services clients. New team members and considerable changes to their internal systems and communication together with a changing regulatory framework made them feel that they should spend valuable time away from their offices to explore the issues and challenges they face.

We spent a day and a half at the Petersham Hotel in west London and facilitated a number discussions and team based activities closely matched to the event objectives. Use of Myers Briggs Type Indicator profiling also helped them to explore relationships, team and individual styles.

They are currently working on a robust and highly detailed action plan resulting from the event which we wish them every success with.

Developing the Leapfrog Leader
12 Dec 05
We look forward to running a 2 day management development programme on behalf of brand new client, Leapfrog Day Nurseries Group.

We hope that this team of senior managers find the event enjoyable and greatly beneficial to their professional development.

Communication – getting my point across and listening to others; Team working - being an effective team member; Team roles and Team mix - selecting our teams; Leadership - how to lead my peers; Feedback - reviewing and reflecting on our learning; Conflict - how to manage difficult situations; Presentation skills – sharing our learning.

Much of the course will be at the school using a variety of methods such as classroom inputs, practical indoor and outdoor exercises, project work, use of video diaries and student presentations.
One day will also be spent at a nearby high ropes course exploring the theme of team and personal challenge.
The course will provide a valuable learning experience for students in their last year at the school before they move on to senior schools.

We hope to bring you more details of the 'Journey' through the web site in the near future.

Kings Ely Young Managers
29 Mar 05
In late February we worked with the newly formed prefect group of the Kings School in Ely.

16 probationary Prefects, who are about to take up their new role within the school, took part in a 2 day residential programme. A number of aims were met such as building the 'prefect team', exploring management skills and preparation for the prefect role.

Our thanks go to the Head of Sixth Form, Gill Smith for her help with us in delivering the programme and to Deputy Head Dr. Graham Parry for his attendance and support.

We wish all of the prefects every success in carrying out their duties with INTEGRITY, WISDOM and COURAGE.

Leadership in Leeds
27 Mar 05
We were delighted to work in partnership with our friends at training consultancy 3D-people in delivering two leadership workshops on behalf of post graduate students and research staff at Leeds University.

The workshops provided useful insights for all attending into aspects of leading oneself and others. Inputs and discussions explored values beliefs and habits in driving leadership behaviour.

The workshops were very well received with delegates commenting that they enjoyed the relaxed and informal approach to delivering powerful messages associated with personal and professional development.

This is our second visit to Leeds to deliver similar programmes and we hope there will be many more.

Mass Appeal within Schools
03 Feb 05
Following the early success of our Education Response initiative offering student and staff devlopment within schools we are soon to work with Jesa Marketing to spread the word on our products and services to the education sector.

They will be sending out flyers and contacting schools directly. With 6500 secondary schools throughout the country there should be plenty to keep them busy!

Pathway Course at Kings School Ely
26 Jan 05
Year 12 students from the Kings School Ely recently undertook our one day pathway course on their school premises. Team work, leadership and communication was discussed and practiced through a series of practical team tasks.

70 young people took part and, despite atrocious weather on the day and shifting to a predominantly indoor programme the day was a huge success.

We look forward to working again with Kings Ely students again during a 2 day residential prefect training and selection programme in February.

For information on our courses within schools please visit our website.

Staff Development Takes Off
19 Jan 05
Our Education Response programmes developing Teamwork, Leadership and Communication skills within schools continues at a pace with programmes already delivered or being planned for schools throughout southern England.

We have been pleasantly surprised by the interest in our staff development programmes also. We are currently talking to several schools about their plans for staff training during forthcoming 'non teaching' days.

The interest varies from team building events for entire staff groups of 100+ through to more focussed development training for senior and functional teams of teachers and managers. For more details on staff development please visit our website.

‘Marketable Individuals’ at Bishop Fox’s
18 Jan 05
We were delighted to work with a group of year 11 students from Business and Enterprise College Bishop Fox’s at their school premises in Taunton, Somerset.

The one day course explored a number of team working and communication themes for over 60 students using practical exercises, facilitator presentations, review and action planning. The working theme for the day was ‘The Marketable Individual’ and provided clear links for students on what would be need to bridge the gap between learning and earning for each of them.

We hope to return to the school in September to work with the new year 11 students.
